This band is one I recently got really into. The first track I ever heard by them was Elephant off their latest album Lonerism; an album which takes you into Tame Impala’s world of whimsical and dreamy pop tunes. I’d have to say now that I’ve listened to all their material, it’s probably my favourite song by them. It begins with its gripping, thumped guitar riff and once the vocals kick in, it purely captivates you.
The vocals summon and warp you into a transitional, instrumental section that is enthralling as keys soar over crash symbols, melodic guitar and that almost wet and heavy bass. Speaking of the bass, it has to be my favourite part of the song. It’s so heavily driven by its euphoric bassline that you can almost feel how low and deep it is as each of the bottomless notes are hit.
It’s a trippy tune which actually stems to be three and a half minutes, but is so good it feels like one. Elephant simply begs you to nod your head along to its psychedelicness. So if you want a new song for your player that you will never skip, then you’ve GOT to hear this!
