Bauer were one of the very first bands I wrote about on A Music Blog, Yea? I’d blast their singles all the time and am so pleased they now have more tracks to listen to. Don’t know Bauer yet? Well, let me introduce you to them here. Otherwise, for those who love the band: Bauer’s debut album Sleeping Giant is out TODAY! The album showcases a ton of great new songs along with the singles Bauer fans have known to love. You can purchase the album from Bauer’s website here, and once you do, A Music Blog, Yea? has a little treat for you! Wanna know what it is? It’s in the title! It’s an extremely humourous and fun interview with the lovely Bauer!
AMBY: Your debut album Sleeping Giant is finally going to be released on November 26th! How excited are you all for that?
Bauer: We’re more than excited! This album has been such a long time in the making it’s both a relief and a massive buzz for it to be finally coming out and for it to be devoured by people. We’re looking forward to the reaction it’s going to get and can’t wait to play it live once people are acquainted with the songs.
AMBY: How would you describe the new album in three words?
Bauer: Gloriously melodic, musical.
AMBY: I had the opportunity of hearing Sleeping Giant and it’s a stellar showing of tracks. Which songs are your favourite?
Bauer: They’re all great in different ways… Connected, Starting Again and Don’t You Move are just obvious massive sing along pop songs… But there’s the darker more brooding and you could say electronic songs like Barrel One and Sky Turn Black that show a totally different side to the band. Luckily, it all seems to blend well on the album, none of it is too disparate. One the poppier songs there are moments of moody reflection and by the same token the darker songs all tend to burst open into melodic choruses.
AMBY: What do you consider the best Bauer lyric?
Bauer: That’s a very hard question to answer because we’re so close to the songs, but to pick one off the top of my head, I quite like “I’m going to slip where the sirens are and the lies are few…”
AMBY: What does the band do outside of music for fun?
Bauer: It’s all music I’d say! Some of us enjoy working on other music projects as well as Bauer, it’s good in a sense that when we come back to doing the Bauer thing we’re all energized for the music.
AMBY: If you could invite three people to dinner who would you choose?
Bauer: It’d have to be the other 3 members of the band!
AMBY: Who are some bands you’ve been listening to lately?
Bauer: A lot of classic pop songs, Phil Spector, motown… Lots of 80s synth sounds, some newer stuff.
AMBY: Describe your dream gig and who would be on the bill with you.
Bauer: We’d be headlining Wembley stadium and we’d let Depeche Mode, The Beach Boys and Richard Ashcroft support us if they asked us politely enough.
AMBY: What is the best song of 2012 so far?
Bauer: That would have to be Sky Turn Black by the band Bauer.
AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Bauer that nobody knows yet?
Bauer: The 2nd album is going to be 57 times better than the 1st…
Haven’t heard Bauer yet? Well, you’re missing out! Now that there’s a whole album for your ears to enjoy, don’t miss the opportunity of loving some new music. Their track Connected off Sleeping Giant is splendid, so lend an ear below. Lastly I must thank you Bauer, for giving me your answers!
