Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Let’s Buy Happiness

LBHLuring me in with their track Works Better on Paper, Let’s Buy Happiness are a group with a seriously good sound. The music? It will take you over with an ethereal-atmospheric vibe. The voice? Sweet as ever. The whole group took the time to answer some questions for us Let’s Buy Happiness lovers, so check it out!

AMBY: What has the band been up to?

LBH: Currently we’re in the studio recording our debut album, something we’ve been working towards for a while now.

AMBY: How would you describe your music to others?

LBH: This is always the hardest question to answer! Our music is very honest, simply it’s big melodic soundscapes with driving rhythm sections.

AMBY: How has the new material evolved from the last release?

LBH: We feel like we’re at the point where we finally have a sound which truly reflects us as a band, this is why we’ve decided to record the album now. It’s a darker and more intense sound.

AMBY: Works Better On Paper is a dreamy song, what is the story behind it?

LBH: It’s about a relationship that works better on paper than it does in the actual relationship.

AMBY: What do you do outside of music for fun?

LBH: We’re mostly always involved in music somehow, other than that, having a few sociable drinks.

AMBY: Which three albums changed your life?

LBH: Modest Mouse- Good News for People Who Love Bad News, Metric- Live it Out, Sigur Ros- Takk

AMBY: What have you been listening to lately?

LBH: We’re always listening to Bonobo in the tour van as well as bands like; Elbow, Death Cab For Cutie, Radiohead and Explosions In The Sky to name a few. Also really loving the new Little Comets and Alt J albums.

AMBY: What is the craziest thing to happen to you while touring?

LBH: Walking into your hotel room to find a drunken Italian guy passed out on your bed with no idea how he got there. Later on seeing the guy on his knees in the middle of the street screaming, poor man had left his iphone in our room!

AMBY: If you could invite three people to dinner who would you choose?

LBH: Isaac Brock, Conor Oberst, Dave Grohl.

AMBY: If you could cover any song, which would it be and why?

LBH: Modest Mouse- Parting of the Sensory. We’re all massive fans of Modest Mouse and this song in particular has great lyrics and would be good fun to play.

AMBY: What is the best song of 2012?

LBH: Battles feat Matias Aguayo- Ice Cream.

AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Let’s Buy Happiness that nobody knows yet?

LBH: We were the original cast for Geordie Shore, but it all got a bit too crazy…
