The Great UK Rock Scene
The UK has previously created some of the pioneers of rock music as we know it today, from The Sex Pistols, to The Beatles and U2 to The Rolling Stones, they have produced some great acts. There is a new wave of UK rock bands, who are all great friends, all tour together, and are really starting to make a name for themselves. So let’s take a look at 5 of these bands:
You Me At Six
The five piece band from Surrey are probably the biggest band of this new wave of young British rock bands, and for good reason. You just have to listen to their newest album ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ to see how they can range from heavy and scream music, such as ‘Bite My Tongue’ to slower and more mellow songs such as ‘Crash’.
Songs to listen to: ‘Bite My Tongue’, ‘Reckless’, ‘Loverboy’
The Scottish band are still fairly unknown, however 2012 has thrown them from relative obscurity to absolutely cramming their tent at Reading and Leeds festival, plus a tour in the USA alongside You Me At Six, The Swellers and We Are The Ocean.
Songs to listen to: ‘Free’, ‘What Is Light? Where Is Laughter?’, ‘Make A Beast Of Myself’
The first of the Welsh inclusions in this list are The Blackout, and they have a highly anticipated album due to come out early 2013 called ‘Start The Party’ the band are set for big things. With two frontmen, one singer and one screamer, it allows the band more flexibility, and the two compliment eachother brilliantly.
Songs to listen to: ‘Higher & Higher’, ‘Start The Party’, ‘Children Of The Night’
Lower Than Atlantis
Lower Than Atlantis are a band that seems to be building an incredibly loyal following each and every day. Recent album ‘Changing Tune’ was a great follow up to their previous album ‘World Record’, and has gained them a supporting slot for pop-punk American foursome All Time Low in 2013.
Songs to listen to: ‘Love Someone Else’, ‘(Motor) Way Of Life’, ‘Beech Like The Tree’
Kids In Glass Houses
The second Welsh inclusion in this list are Kids In Glass Houses. Fronted by Aled Williams, they are a pop punk/punk rock band, with vibrant and catchy songs. You just have to listen to ‘Undercover Lover’ featuring The Saturdays’ very own Frankie Sandford, to realise the fun and energetic rock sound of the Welsh lads.
Songs to listen to: ‘Young Blood (Let It Out)’, ‘Undercover Lover’, ‘Give Me What I Want’
