Each time The Vibe come on an overjoyed thrill runs through my music-loving bones! The band’s vibe is a special one; they’ve created a unique and different sound for themselves. Whenever a track of theirs plays, from the swaying vocals to powerful guitars and flying synth, you know the song is theirs. It’s early in the year and I can already say they hold one of my favourite songs of 2013, Sixty Two. So to see what The Vibe is up to between gigs and recording, they took the time to speak to AMBY!
AMBY: Hello, introduce yourselves to our readers, who are The Vibe?
The Vibe: Helloo! We’re Max (Vocals, Synth), Ben (Lead Guitar) and Scott (Drums), A 3 piece Electronic BritPop Band from Staffordshire, UK. We are in love with Music – Oh and American Cars!
AMBY: For those unfamiliar with your group, how would you describe your music to others?
The Vibe: Erm.. Fun, Singalongable (is that a word?), Jumpy, Catchy. Think 80’s Synthpop meets 90’s Britpop meets 00’s indie and you may have it – oh and the odd Muse riff maybe!
AMBY: Recently releasing your double single Sixty Two/ Wise Man on SoundCloud, the band has been vibing off some comments the fans have made. What’s the response to the songs been like?
The Vibe: Really positive! And we’re extremely grateful for the lovely comments. Some crazy kids from Spain and America have been talking of them which was we found odd – but cool obviously! It kind of reflects the positive nature of the songs we hope – they’re quite upbeat and mainstream we guess. So thanks guys! Get yourself onto iTunes on Friday 4th Jan!
AMBY: Which three The Vibe tracks must be on everyone’s player?
The Vibe: Oooh -Tough one! – judging by what seems to go down well live, We’d have to say: Going Wrong, Fake Skin, Wise Man.
AMBY: What are the top three live shows you’ve seen in your life?
The Vibe: These questions are hard! We all have different ones! Luckily there is 3 of us..
Max: Django Django at Birmingham o2 Academy 2012
Ben: Muse Wembley Stadium 2010
Scott: Green Day, Birmingham LG Arena 2009 (he loves the drummer)
AMBY: What part of the world would you like to play most?
The Vibe: Japan would be rather cool. Hear they are completely bonkers for music over there! But Burton upon Trent (Hometown) is fabulous for now!
AMBY: What’s a lyric you’ll never get enough of?
The Vibe: We can’t pick one… is two okay?
“Why don’t we just do it in the road?!” – The Beatles
“And that eureka moment hits you like a cop car, And you wake up just head shoulders in glass jar” – Everything Everything Cough Cough.
AMBY: Which three artists changed your life?
The Vibe: Again we probably all completely disagree on this one, Max’s would definitely be The Beatles, Ben’s Muse and Scott’s probably Abba….haha! Rather different – but if we all had the same we’d probably be a boring cover band!
AMBY: What is the best song of 2012?
The Vibe: Wow erm.. Well Scott is still catching up on 2011 – so on behalf of Max and Ben – Cough Cough– Everything Everything! Bit of a banger that one!
AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about The Vibe that nobody knows yet?
The Vibe: Ben sleeps with one eye wide open.We will be recording and releasing a collection of singles throughout 2013 – so keep an eye out!
