Hey, we’re ‘Carnabells’, a five-piece indie rock and roll band from Leeds. We first started jamming together in late 2010, when brothers Luke Thompson (lead vocals and guitar) and Mitch Thompson (lead guitar) teamed up with college mates, Tom Webster (drums), Jack Mattison (keyboard) and Louis Appleyard (bass). We started writing our own material, played several gigs around Leeds, and released a couple of EPs under a different name. Over the years, we developed our own original sound, taking heavy influences from 50’s rock and roll artists, such as Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis. In 2012, we recorded our debut EP as Carnabells called ‘She’s a Rollercoaster’. Tracks from this EP have been played nationally, on prestigious radio stations such as BBC Radio 6, and BBC Introducing shows all over the country. Additionally, Matt Bowman from ‘The Pigeon Detectives’ kindly chose us as his ‘Band of the Week’ on Yorkshire Radio, giving exclusive plays to tracks off our EP, ‘rock and roll beat’, and ‘station road’. Our next show is on the 15th March, at ‘The Cockpit’ in Leeds, where we will be releasing our new single, ‘Runaway Train’, selling tickets for £4, it’s going to be HUGE.
