When we think of Crash & The ‘Coots, the first words that come to mind are fun, charismatic, and wonderfully eccentric. Crash & The ‘Coots’ song Emily (Hehe) was a full experience when heard the first time, between lyrics “a classic case of English Taste, I love your mind and hate your face”, and fantastically enthusiastic vocals, we loved everything about the song. So to find out more about the band, we spoke with Crash & The ‘Coots about being Batman, loving Aqua, and “booos!”, “ha’s!”, and “shugudugahs!”
AMBY: Hey Crash & The ‘Coots! If you had to describe each member of the band with one word, what would it be?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Delirious, Diva, Awkward.
AMBY: You’ve been able to develop an extremely unique sound for yourselves. Who or what has had an influence on this?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Thanks! We listen to a lot of music, i’d really put it all down to Sister Mary Clarence from the hit movie Sister Act, and more importantly Sister act 2. When she laid down the meaning of the word “eclectic” for those young delinquents in class… it was all a kid could do but admire the woman. Then when Lauryn Hill and her friends showed us what the benefits of being eclectic can do for a group it all hit home.
AMBY: What do you have planned for 2013?
Crash & The ‘Coots: We plan to play anywhere people will let us, and release a 3rd EP before the end of the year.
AMBY: What was the best part of recording Emily (Hehe)?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Probably doing the “booos!” “Ha’s!” And “shugudugahs!”. We recorded about 8 versions of the two of us doing those parts in different voices, then we put them all together to get the end result. Girlish giggles aplenty.
AMBY: Where did the name Crash & The Coots come from?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Are you pharrell???
AMBY: Which band would you like to see reform?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Well this is a toughy because when bands reform its obviously never the same as it was the first time around. Soooooo… Aqua.
AMBY: Who is your must follow on Twitter?
Crash & The ‘Coots: @GroovyBruce
AMBY: What are the top three live shows you’ve seen in your life?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Ringo Deathstarr, Radiohead, Joanna Newsom.
AMBY: What has you excited for 2013?
Crash & The ‘Coots: Aqua reforming.
AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Crash & The Coots that nobody knows yet?
Crash & The ‘Coots: I’m Batman.
Thank you Crash & The ‘Coots, for giving us your answers!
