AMBY: For those who haven’t had the pleasure of hearing you, how would you describe Stealing Sheep’s sound in three words?

Stealing Sheep: Diamond Moon Doom.

Stealing Sheep: Lots of people and things! We’re listening to Dirty Projectors, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Alt-J, Melodies Echo Chamber, Broadcast, Santigold loads! We are well into visual stuff too and that makes it’s way into the music.

AMBY: What do you consider the best lyric you’ve written?

Stealing Sheep: We’ve just written a new tune called A Real Clown. The lyrics are cool.

AMBY: You have been touring quite a bit. What is the craziest thing to happen to you at a gig?

Stealing Sheep: We arrived late to Bestival and had to go on without instruments. The was pretty radical and freaked us out! We sang and clapped instead.

AMBY: What’s on your iPod at the moment?

Stealing Sheep: Fever Ray.

AMBY: Shut Eye is a fantastic song, what is the story behind it?

Stealing Sheep: It started when I (Becky) didn’t own a bed. I was sleeping on the sofa for 6 months. I woke up and said: you should have got a better bed. Better for your head. Better heads need Shut Eye. And so the song started! Lucy did a cool beat that followed the melody pattern and that really clicked the song into place. Emily’s guitar line created the hook and the song felt great. So that’s the story!

Stealing Sheep: Graceland (Paul Simon), Tago Mago by Can.
