Okay about us. Circle started life in my (Radi Safi) bedroom in 2004 while I was still listening to a lot of Eels and Flaming Lips. I think those influences are still there. It was always about the song and never about a cohesion between songs for the album which I think a lot of great bands do very well. My first two releases were under the name Opanoni but after putting a band together we felt and agreed that a name change was the right thing to do. The label (Monday Records) which is our label was already starting to work with other acts so our group of musician friends was growing. Circle released an album and started working with other local labels (one of which had Gotye signed at the time). Around 2010 we built a studio in Enmore and were able to push for that bigger sound and we feel we achieved that with our album The Middle. It took its toll on the band however and we lost a couple of members post album release. The single, Fashion me a Drum has done pretty well and come to think of it, it was probably the last track we would have imagined being the single. I know you’ve heard that a million times but its so true. Right now we’re working through a bunch of demos and also sharing them with fans and industry alike. We’re also helping with the new Happy blog and festival which we launched in 2010. Maybe there’s too much on but I’m waiting for that moment that says “yes, its now time to start an album”. I can never quite remember what it feels like but I’m always sure when it finally hits me.
