Superfood’s Superfood is… super. This four-piece are relatively new with the release of their one track, and we just can’t wait to hear more rad music from Superfood! So, we spoke with them about movies based on the band, foods they’d call “super”, and the funny story behind their artwork!
AMBY: Hey Superfood! Thanks for speaking with AMBY, how are you all doing?
Superfood: Very well thanks.
AMBY: If you had to describe each member in the band with one word, which word would define them?
Superfood: Ryan is ‘pebble’, Emily ‘cob’, Me ‘elastic’, Carl ‘knife’.
AMBY: Your song Superfood has a supergroove, who or what influenced the song?
Superfood: When me and Ryan first for together at his flat to make music we say down and within two hours this was demoed. We danced for an extra 3-4 afterwards.
AMBY: Where did the name Superfood come from?
Superfood: From the song.
AMBY: What’s does the band have planned for 2013?
Superfood: Not sure to be honest, I’m guessing just loads of shows.
AMBY: We have to ask about your artwork! Where did the baby/horse idea come from?
Superfood: Me and my friend Amatt stole this huge a2 print of my mate Jay from his house on New Years Eve one year cause we thought he looked so strange. I’ve had it in my possession for about three years now so I thought it would be strange if we didn’t use it to be honest. Jay is such a cute baby.
AMBY: If you could hang out with any of your influences for a day, who would you choose?
Superfood: I’d hang out with Jeff Lynne for the day at his house in L.A. We’d wear sunglasses, jam and drink juice all day.
AMBY: Which foods would call “super”?
Superfood: It’s a pretty funny concept to call a food super to be honest bit aren’t like berries and nuts super?
AMBY: Who would be in your ultimate concert line-up?
Superfood: E.L.O, Eryka Badu, Ian Dury.
AMBY: What would a movie based on the band be called?
Superfood: ‘The Golden Tomorrow’ or maybe something simple like ‘Unicorn’.
AMBY: And lastly, which artists would you recommended our readers check out?
Superfood: There’s a really cool band called ‘Sudakistan’ and another ‘Crash and the Coots’.
