Once in a while a band comes along who sound like nothing you have ever heard before.
Those bands are usually crap.
Giant Star sound like all your favourite things- Indie, Dub, Ska, Electro, Northern Soul. You’ve heard it all before a thousand times. Just not usually in the same song.
Lead singer Richard went all around the world back in the 90’s on the back of his hit record ‘Sugar Cane’ by Space Monkeys, the last band ever to be signed by the legendary Tony Wilson to his Factory Records Label. The rest of the band are friends and faces from around the Manchester scene.
Manchester’s finest female vocalist Denise Johnson sings sweet vocals on the debut ‘Happy Pills’ e.p which is released on July 1st and available on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.
‘Year Of The Snake’ the debut album follows shortly afterwards as the band hit the road for their first bunch of shows in Manchester, London, Glasgow and New York.
If you only go to one gig this year- make sure it’s Glastonbury. If you couldn’t get a ticket, check out Giant Star instead. Manchester’s best kept secret. Forget peace, give Giant Star a chance.
