Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Witch Hunt

Witch HuntLeeds’ duo Witch Hunt (Louisa Osborn and Chris Mulligan) produce mystical, gloomy music with dark lyrics and thundering guitars. Witch Hunt can easily trap you into one of their black spells. Intrigued to know more, AMBY had a talk with Witch Hunt about upcoming releases, spooky vinyls, bumping heads, and more.

AMBY: Hello Witch Hunt! Thanks for having a chat with AMBY, what have you been up to lately?

Witch Hunt: We have been busy playing UK city festivals like Live at Leeds, Liverpool sound city and Long division Wakefield.  Currently recording and preparing for more gigs.

AMBY: How would you describe your sound to those unfamiliar with your music?

Witch Hunt: We tread a fine line between a loud Rock n’ Roll band and live produced music.  Loud guitars, dark lyrics, big beats, and atmospheric verb.

AMBY: What do you have planned for your next release?

Witch Hunt: Something spooky on vinyl with a few more tracks.  Hopefully released around Halloween.

AMBY: What’s the story behind your excellent song Crawl?

Witch Hunt: We don’t remember how it happened. Lou had some sinister lyrics and with the guitars it turned into one of our first songs as a two piece.

AMBY: What is the most inappropriate thing you have ever said?

Witch Hunt: We told a bunch of Misogonists  to ‘Fuck off’.  But I suppose that could actually be the most appropriate thing we have ever said.

AMBY: Which three albums changed your life?

Witch Hunt: To Bring You My Love – PJ Harvey, Elephant – The White Stripes, Sea Of Cowards – The Dead Weather. All of these add up to the Witch Hunt sound.

AMBY: What have been some of the highlights of your career so far?

Witch Hunt: Playing Live at Leeds this summer was great.  Such a big crowd  for a very busy day.

AMBY: What’s the funniest thing to happen to you at a gig?

Witch Hunt: We have bumped heads a few times on stage.  Not quite sure how it happens. But the show must go on.

AMBY: What is your song of the year so far?

Witch Hunt: If I Had a Tail – Queens of the Stone Age.  We both cannot stop singing it.  Maybe we will cover it.

AMBY: What has you excited for the rest of 2013?

Witch Hunt: We both have birthdays in September… maybe we should plan a witchy party.. Other than that, recording lots of new stuff.

AMBY: If you had to describe each member in the band with one word, which word would define them?

Witch Hunt: Furby and Fabulous.

AMBY: And last but never least, what’s something about Witch Hunt that nobody knows?

Witch Hunt: We watch Sex and the City everyday.

Thank you Witch Hunt, for giving us your answers!
