Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Yoko Ono

Yoko OnoYoko Ono has been admiring, sharing, and making music for years. AMBY had the brilliant opportunity of speaking with her about getting on the dance floor, music industry advice, and her feelings on if people have finally given peace a chance. Plastic Ono Band‘s new album Take Me To The Land of Hell comes out today. And, recently releasing two brand-new dance remixes of her song Walking On Thin Ice (under her alter-ego ONO), it was the perfect time to ask Yoko some questions. We’re honoured to share this interview with our readers, and would like to once again thank Yoko Ono for giving us her answers. And remember, IMAGINE PEACE: Think PEACE, Act PEACE, Spread PEACE.

AMBY: Hey Yoko, thank you so much for talking to AMBY. It’s an honour to have you on the website. How have you been?

Yoko Ono: Very good! I just did a very satisfying two concerts in Helsinki with Thurston Moore, and we’re both riding high.

AMBY: The original Walking On Thin Ice is a great track. What made you decide to have it remixed again?

Yoko Ono: It’s nice to share a good song like this with others in this way.

AMBY: Both Danny Tenaglia and R3HAB have done different remixes for the song. What are the highlights of each remix for you?

Yoko Ono: Both reflects the incredible talent and love for the song of the two geniuses.

AMBY: Out of all the remixes that you have done, which one gets you on the dance floor?

Yoko Ono: My body gets excited whenever it hears any dance track, and starts moving. A strange body.

AMBY: Music stimulates a variety of senses; do any senses stand out as triggers to inspire your music?

Yoko Ono: My heartbeat.

AMBY: What is a piece of advice you would give someone getting into the music industry?

Yoko Ono: Don’t try to get into the music industry. Let them come to you when they are ready.

AMBY: Speaking of the industry, you’ve carved out quite a distinguished career. What motivates you to keep creating music?

Yoko Ono: Making music for me is like breathing air. I am not ready to die…

AMBY: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Yoko Ono: That we will all be totally wise.

AMBY: After all of these years, do you feel that people have finally given peace a chance?

Yoko Ono: Yes, yes, yes! I see the whole world wanting Peace very badly. We will get it very soon, unless you keep thinking that we won’t.

AMBY: And lastly, what’s something about Yoko Ono that nobody knows yet?

Yoko Ono: I have no idea.

Thank you so much Yoko for giving us your answers. It was a true honour to interview you and have you on our website. Much love from AMBY!
