Getting Cozy With… Queen Maud!

Queen MaudHello…. We’re Queen Maud.

We are an electronica four-piece, and we originate from Liverpool, England. We class ourselves as an art collective who use many different forms of media (painting, projections, film, poetry) as forms of expression, while primarily focusing on music. If you enjoy drones and want to submerge yourselves in an ambient/dream-pop soundscape then you’re at the right place!

We hold a select few bands and artists in high regard due to their contribution for music. But, collectively as a unit we tend to get our influences internally from the other members of Queen Maud. Individually we bring different influences, viewpoints and attributes to our sound. We rely heavily on each other emotionally and musically in order to create our compositions.

If we must name a few bands/artists that’ve manipulated our sound and concept towards our music/art (to an extent), we’ll have to say; Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, My Bloody Valentine, Animal Collective and yes, Canada we’re very fond of Grimes. You may find similarities between us and them, you may not… the list could be endless.

Our live set-up is quite complex, it involves various ‘stations’ and instruments. We’ve each got our own guitars accompanied by various foot-pedals such as delay, echo, fuzz etc. as you can judge by the recordings… but, as our sound is constantly improving we’ve incorporated other gadgets such as an Akai Drum-machine, Synthesisers, Samplers, Keyboards and a Violin.

‘PAINS’ is our debut EP and was released on the 22nd of June 2013 via Bandcamp. The EP was entirely self-recorded and released by Queen Maud. We’ve already got ideas in place for our second release ‘BODIES’. None of us want to be working those boring desk jobs, who does? So we want to make it to the level where music is our career, we can’t imagine doing anything else.

Go and fetch a nice cup of Coffee, put your headphones on and indulge yourselves with our debut release ‘PAINS’.

Thank you.
