The Wave by Litsoma
Why write about a song with just over a hundred plays on Soundcloud, by a band with only 5 followers there? In a word – potential.
First let’s be clear, the recording quality of The Wave leaves a lot to be desired. It’s basically a live performance recorded via an iPad. And the microphone leads to a vocal that is barely discernible if your ears can pick it up at all.
But the effect is to create a lo-fi shoe gaze vibe that channels a Childhood and Splashh-like sound. And there’s more than a little of a Temples flavour to the insistent guitar riff that grounds the song (with all the influences that Temples bring themselves).
All in all a good start. With Jordan Lewis (pictured) on lead vocals, Jake Hussey on bass, Patrick Forde on guitar, and Glenn Rawcliffe on drums these band of 17 year-olds are worth keeping track of, particularly once they get recording in a proper studio.
