One Of My Own by Model Aeroplanes
Model Aeroplanes’ debut single first “Crazy” has garnered them a lot of attention, gathering 10,000 SoundCloud plays in advance of its release last month. And since then it has been played on BBC Radio 1, Xfm and Amazing Radio amongst others gathering the band new fans along the way. They were interviewed by A Music Blog, Yea? in September.
I’ve got reason to thank the young quartet of Rory Fleming-Stewart, Grant Irvine, Kieran Alexander Smith, and Ben Buist, as a Facebook post I wrote about them led to me being asked to contribute to this blog. What’s more I was pleased to discover all come from Monifieth – just a stone’s throw away from where I grew up (please don’t throw stones at Monifieth though!).
Whilst regular gigs and a slot at T in the Park have contributed to the success of “Crazy” it’s not that track I’m writing about today. Instead I’ve fixed on the track “One Of My Own” which shows a different side to the bands’ fresh indie pop riffs. Performed as a trio without Ben I found it on their Amazing Tunes profile and it appears only to be available as a YouTube video at present. But the rich harmonies on this slower track showcase a mature side to the band which bodes well for the future.
