Getting Cozy With… Rupert Stroud!

Rupert StroudHello to all the AMBY readers!

I’m a 26 year old independent singer/songwriter from Leeds in West Yorkshire England!

I’ve been writing songs and gigging for a few years now. I started out as an acoustic solo artist playing the local bar/club scene in my home county. These days I perform on stage with two very talented musicians. Drummer and percussionist Mick Bedford (who has drummed for Elton John and Sting) and Bass guitarist and accomplished record producer, Paul Horatio Brown. This summer we completed a UK tour travelling all over the country with a few festivals along the way.

I record all my songs with multi platinum award winning producer Will Jackson (previous credits include The Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs and The Pigeon Detectives’ No. 1 debut album)

My latest single “Never Back Down” has received UK National radio attention being played on the award winning Dermot O’Leary show on BBC Radio 2, as well as on XFM London and BBC Introducing shows! BBC Radio London invited the band and I down to BBC Broadcasting House for a live session on The Simon Lederman show back in August! The single has also won me my first US radio play and has now been added to rotation on KX93.5 FM Laguna Beach CA!

I have previously released 2 albums and 4 singles. 1 of those singles being “Always” with 100% of the download profits going to Alzheimer’s Research UK. The song is dedicated to my maternal grandmother who suffered from the disease for 7 years before passing away in late 2009. The charity was delighted when I contacted them about my plans to release the single in order to raise funds and awareness for ARUK. The single was released in Spring 2012 and so far I have raised over £5,500 for the charity. After that I was made a National Media Volunteer Spokesperson for the charity and they have just recently nominated me an Alzheimer’s Research UK Champion! In February this year I was invited down to The House of Commons, Westminster London, as ARUK’s Yorkshire Media Spokesperson, for a reception, hosted by the Speaker of The House, The Rt Hon John Bercow. This was a cross party initiative to announce ARUK’s new research strategy. It was a great honour to be part of this momentous occasion.

I’m currently back in the studio writing, recording and collaborating with my producer Will Jackson. We are working on new material for my forth coming 3rd studio album due for release in Spring/Summer 2014! I will be releasing the first 3 songs as singles at the beginning of next year.

In the mean time, if you like what you hear, please connect on Facebook, Twitter and my official website! I’d love to build up my Canadian fan base so I can one day come to a city near you with the band!

Cheers

Rupert x
