My name is Ed Black. I’m from a city called Chester in England. You probably won’t know where that is. In case you don’t, its in the North-West of England. We have a really good zoo and a not-so-good soap opera.
I studied music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which was co-founded by Paul McCartney. You probably do know who that is. Anyway, I’m gonna stop making assumptions about what you do and don’t know, and tell you a little bit about my music..
I grew up playing guitar and singing in bands, but whenever I was on my own with an acoustic guitar I’d always write these songs that kind of only really suited me. So about a year ago I started recording and gigging as a solo artist. I put out an EP in January and have just recently put out another single which you can check out below (both can be downloaded for free!).
I listen to all sorts of music, but my songwriting is influenced by artists like Bombay Bicycle Club, Jack Peñate and Bright Eyes. I guess if you had to had to put it in a genre you could call my music indie/pop, but who likes genre tags?
Have a listen anyway, and if you like it I’d love to hear from you.
