Thomas J Speight: Hey, I’m Thomas J Speight a singer/songwriter from London. I’m currently sat on a train traveling to Liverpool whilst listening to the newest Shins record. This happens a lot because I currently split my time between London and Liverpool.

AMBY: What have you been up to lately?

Thomas J Speight: It’s been a good couple of months..I toured with Travis who I’m huge fans of! So that was a big privilege for me and have been filming the debut video for my single.

AMBY: Your new single Just Where I Want To Be is a beautifully written pop song. How did the lyrics of the track come to be?

Thomas J Speight: I wrote that track with Mike (clean cut kid) my took about 20-30 minutes to write..which is always exciting when that come from a personal experience which most of my songs seem to stem from but I like to think it could mean different things to different people

AMBY: Do you have any plans to celebrate the release of Just Where I Want To Be?

Thomas J Speight: We normally have a few drinks and have a nice meal!! For me and the band the best celebration would be to playing a gig!

AMBY: Your EP Together or Alone was released back in April. What are your thoughts on the EP now that there’s been time to reflect on it?

Thomas J Speight: I think with all the recordings I’ve done hopefully you can hear a development and progression..I’m still young so I like to think the music and songs are always getting better

AMBY: You’ve shared the stage with Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran, and Jake Bugg. And have collaborated with Keane, Stephen Fretwell, and The Staves. Who would you dream jam session be with?

Thomas J Speight: That’s a good question.. On drums I would have brad pemberton (Ryan Adams drummer) he played on my track ‘the river’ which was cool! Bass would be Alex James from blur I’ve always thought he looked pretty cool! On guitar I would have Mike (clean cut kid) he is the best guitarist I’ve heard and on vocals the weepies singer..she gets me every time!

AMBY: Which Thomas J Speight lyric is your favourite?

Thomas J Speight: I’ve never really thought about that.. I’ll will let you be the judge.

AMBY: If you could choose to have your music featured in any movie or show, which would you choose?

Thomas J Speight: Any Zach Braff films..he is the most awesome taste in music!

AMBY: What’s your favourite song of 2013?

Thomas J Speight: I loved Luke Sital Singh- bottled up tight

AMBY: Which release are you most looking forward to this year?

Thomas J Speight: I think the new Staves album will be killer when it comes out!
