“King Leo” is the lead track from young Milton Keynes four piece Hi-Tide’s debut EP “She’s Gone”. The track is already available as a free download off of the EP, and the other tracks being “After Dark”, “MRI” and “Bumblebee”.
It’s an assured, confident debut release from a band that only formed in 2013. Alex Griffith’s vocals soar to good effect, with a tone that put in mind a slightly harder edged version of James Walsh’s vocals from Starsailor (and yes it took me a while quite to place it). Alex Griffith’s guitar work is impressive, with Josh King on Bass and Ali Preston on drums providing the rhythm section driving the track on.
Together with the other tracks the “She’s Gone” EP is a strong debut release from a band still in their formative stage. With a few live shows under their belt already it will be worth looking out for them before the festivals snap them up.
