Magic Man“Paris” was the first song that got me hooked to Magic Man. You know that feeling you get when you listen to a song for the first time and you have to stop doing what you were doing? You become overwhelmed and somehow think to yourself that this song is your long lost sister in music? Well, that’s what happened to me. After the first listen, I decided to choose “Paris” as my anthem; it’s the song I listen to almost every day.

The beginning of the song when all you hear is the piano is probably the most beautiful way to begin a track. But that’s only a buildup to some serious dance-indie-pop business. It’s not hard to find yourself dancing and singing along to this. There’s just something so addictive about Paris. So I was trying to figure out what it was and not only was the addiction coming from the magic of their music, but I think it was also the lyrics to the song. To me, Paris was a motto about moving on and moving forward. It’s about letting go of something that’s holding you back. And I feel like this can relate to anyone. However, the beauty about having problems and being stuck in a situation is that when there is one; present it to yourself as an opportunity to learn (advice from your friendly fellow music lover, hi!)

My curiosity got to me and I wanted to know the actual meaning behind the song. So I decided that I might as well ask the lyricist to the song and this is the lead singer’s (Alex Caplow) response through Twitter. “It’s about readjusting to my life at home after living in Paris for 6 months, hanging on to the past. May have been a girl involved.” So there you go! Now, why don’t you go check out their song, and you can decide on how the song makes you feel. (Warning: You’ll be hooked instantly)
