Say Hi, the moniker of Seattle-based artist Eric Elboge, will play Toronto’s The Drake Hotel on Friday, April the 25th with Melbourne duo Big Scary. Aside from his current North American tour, Say Hi will release his eight studio album Endless Wonder on June 17th! In a recent interview, A Music Blog, Yea? caught up with Eric to learn more about the record, touring, and quintessential songs. Here’s what he had to say:
AMBY: Hello Eric, welcome to our site! Please Say Hi by introducing yourself to our readers.
Say Hi: Hello!
AMBY: Which three songs are the quintessential Say Hi?
Say Hi: I tend to think more in terms if the catalog, so they’re all quintessential!
AMBY: You soon release your eighth studio album, Endless Wonder. Tell us about the LP — what was the experience like recording it?
Say Hi: It was long and arduous, but hopefully worth it.
AMBY: When it comes to songwriting on the album, what were your biggest influences?
Say Hi: I’m always a sucker for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
AMBY: What is one reason fans should be majorly excited for Endless Wonder?
Say Hi: It’s awesome!
AMBY: You’re currently on tour with the awesome Big Scary. What’s your favourite part of being on the road?
Say Hi: It’s pretty exciting when people know all the words to the songs.
AMBY: What’s the funniest thing to happen to Say Hi while touring?
Say Hi: Not a lot of funny stuff, unfortunately. It’s a lot of time spent on the highway.
AMBY: Which other artists from Seattle should we keep our eyes on?
Say Hi: I like my friend Michael’s band Telekinesis.
AMBY:Who would you like to be most and least stuck in an elevator with?
Say Hi: I’m very claustrophobic, so please don’t leave me stuck in an elevator!!!!
AMBY: Lastly, tell us something about Say Hi that nobody knows yet.
Say Hi: I’m an open book! Everybody already knows everything!
Thank you Say Hi, for giving us your answers!
