A Music Blog, Yea? caught up with Major Leagues‘ bassist Vlada to discuss their debut EP Weird Season, impeccable hygiene, and The Great Escape festival. Want to know more about the Brisbane quartet? You’ve come to the right place. Read the whole interview here:

AMBY: Welcome to AMBY, Major Leagues. Please introduce yourselves to our readers!

Major Leagues: Ohay, I am Vlada – one quarter of Major Leagues. We are a collection of dog lovers from Australia.

AMBY: How would you describe each member of the band in one word?

Major Leagues: I pondered on this one for a while so I decided to describe each of them as a pizza topping to make it easier: Anna – Cheese, Jaimee – Bacon, Jake – Salami. Myself? I’m pretty into the mushroom + pizza.

AMBY: Which songs are your favourite off of your debut EP Weird Season?

Major Leagues: Feel is definitely the most fun to play live it’s also Jaimee’s only song on the EP so I would have to go with that.

AMBY: What’s next as far as recording goes?

Major Leagues: We have been recording some demos with Miro Mackie of Little Scout who mixed this EP. So hopefully a record real soon when we can get a few more tracks together.

AMBY: Your latest single Silver Tides is a great release. What’s the story behind the song?

Major Leagues: Thank you! Well Silver Tides is one of Anna’s songs. We recorded it with Sean Cook in his little studio which at the time was under a house. We sat on it for a while but we were really happy with how it turned out. The video clip as well was crazy fun to make. We did it at our friend’s bar and made huge jugs of sangria and invited a whole bunch of people to come and dance.

AMBY: You announced that you’re in the line-up for The Great Escape festival in the UK this year. Which artists do you look forward to seeing most this year while at the festival?

Major Leagues: Kelis! What a perfect angel right? Future Islands, September Girls also there are a bunch of wonderful Australian bands going this year like Jeremy Neale, Courtney Barnett, The Creases and Dune Rats.

AMBY: What’s the funniest thing to happen to Major Leagues while at a gig?

Major Leagues: Some guy tried to get away with a cheeky vomit once during a set. He casually leaned over and puked under his chair, sat back up had a sip of beer and continued being a legend.

AMBY: Which other artists from Brisbane should we keep our eyes on?

Major Leagues: There are a buttload of great Brisbane bands. We just played a few shows with our buddies The Good Sports who rule. Dag, Rolls Bayce, Black Vacation, Roku Music so many more!

AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Major Leagues that nobody knows yet?

Major Leagues: We all have impeccable hygiene. I won’t say who but one of us wore the same pair of socks all tour. Kewl.

Thank you Major Leagues, for giving us your answers!
