Brantford’s Sons Of Revelry recently caught up with A Music Blog, Yea? to discuss inspirations, dream concerts at The Great Pyramid, and parental confrontations. Get acquainted with the band before their show at Toronto’s The Hideout this Thursday, May 8th!

AMBY: Hey Sons of Revelry, thanks for speaking with us today. Please introduce yourselves to our readers.

Sons of Revelry: Toby Black – Lead vocals and guitar, Arron Rayner – Bass and backup vocals, Sean Boyle – Drums, Corey Brouwer – Guitar and backup vocals

AMBY: Taken from your debut live EP Born with a Bigga Goal, what’s the story behind the title track Born with a Bigga Goal?

Sons of Revelry: It’s about sticking it to the man and never letting others stopping you from doing what you love and dream of achieving.

AMBY: When creating the debut, your main goal was to “create a true inspiring musical experience for anyone and everyone who decides to listen”. Who inspired you while creating the EP?

Sons of Revelry: We all have many inspirations which include everything from Jimi Hendrix to Timothy Leary,, the Arctic Monkeys to Queens of the Stone Age and The Doors to Tool. We all have very different influences.

AMBY: The band will soon play Canadian Music Week and Vans Warped Tour. What’s the craziest thing to happen to Sons of Revelry while at a show?

Sons of Revelry: A show in Brantford where Arron hit such a low note (aka brown note) made a woman in the crowd shit herself and attempt to crab walk out of the place while unplugging our pedal board power supplies on the way out.

AMBY: Where would your dream concert take place and who would be in the line-up?

Sons of Revelry: This concert would be held at The Great Pyramid. Robert Johnson would open, then The Band would jam out with appearances by Hendrix, Clapton, SRV and Josh Homme. Next would be Zeppelin followed by Pink Floyd than closing the night would be The Beatles accompanied by Ravi Shankar.

AMBY: If you could trade places with any artist in the industry, who would it be?

Sons of Revelry: We wouldn’t want to trade places with anyone. We want to earn our spot. But if we HAD to choose it would be 1D.

AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Sons of Revelry that nobody knows yet?

Sons of Revelry: Something nobody knows about SOR:

Toby – nearly died of an overdose when he was younger.

Arron – is the best guitarist in the band.

Sean – is in a relationship his highschool sweet heart.

Corey – shit his pants while jumping from a two story fire escape when fleeing from parental confrontation after losing his virginity.

Thank you Sons Of Revelry, for giving us your answers!
