Wild Smiles only just signed to Sunday Best Recordings in April, but are already receiving praise and radio plays from Jon Kennedy on Xfm and Gary Crowley on Amazing Radio. Currently working on their debut album, the band will celebrate the last few months by headlining a very special show at the Sebright Arms in East London (tickets). Before the show, we caught up with Wild Smiles to discuss trading places with Jay-Z, their upcoming album, and the late sixties. Here’s what they had to say:
AMBY: Hello Wild Smiles! Welcome to AMBY and congrats on your recent signing to Sunday Best Recordings. What did the band do to celebrate the occasion?
Wild Smiles: Thanks man! We celebrated with our manager in typical RockNRoll fashion Pizza and Champagne – and from there its been one big Hangover 4 moment.
AMBY: How would you describe each member of Wild Smiles in one word?
Wild Smiles: Me (Chris) – Dude Joe – Nitwit Ben – Legend
AMBY: You’re currently working on your debut album. What can fans expect to hear from the record?
Wild Smiles: You can expect – fast and slow numbers ranging from Heavy to melodic. It’s an emotional roller-coaster through 11 songs.
AMBY: Is there a title for the album yet and when is the set release date?
Wild Smiles: The album is called Always Tomorrow and should be out late October!
AMBY: You have some upcoming shows in London, including a special headline gig at Sebright Arms. What’s the funniest thing to happen to the band while on stage?
Wild Smiles: The best thing is Joe forgetting to plug in his bass and none of us realising until the end of the set! Hence why he is a Nitwit.
AMBY: Where would you go in a time machine?
Wild Smiles: I think I’d like to experience the late 60’s early 70’s – those looked like a great time for creativity.
AMBY: If you could trade places with another artist in the music industry for a day, who would it be?
Wild Smiles: I’d like to see what it’s like to be Jay Z – He seems to have it all – well until recently.
AMBY: Lastly, tell us something about Wild Smiles that nobody knows yet.
Wild Smiles: We’ve been labeled a band of 3 brothers – Sadly we are only 2 real brothers and 1 honouree brother!
Thank you Wild Smiles, for giving us your answers!
