I was fortunate to catch Casual Panic play live at Camden’s Barfly late last year, where they delivered a scintillating set grounded in tracks from their debut EP release Hot Air which AMBY featured last November. Since then the band have undergone a bit of a line up change since with Sonny James coming in for bassist Stephen Ettery.
The band are now back with new single “Made For Me”, which breaks down into two halves. The opening two minutes is a conventional indie rocker with singer Zach Campbell’s vocals delivering the tracks simple lyric’s off lead guitarist Archie Kier’s energetic riff. But halfway through the track morphs into a fairly lush instrumental outro – and it’s the combination of the two that makes the track special.
With a follow up single “I Feel Alright” already recorded there’s much more to come from Casual Panic in 2014. And if the rumours of an AMBY gig in Milton Keynes prove true, you can be sure there would be a slot on the bill for these locals.
