You never know what to expect when a band decides to re-brand. As a fan, sometimes the thought of a group overhauling their sound can be a worrisome thing — will they sound similar? if they sound different, will I still like it?
Although this is a fresh start for Midlands foursome The Vibe, their debut release as Deco will still keep their fans happy and satisfied as they hone in their signature charismatic vocals and unique combination of 80s post-punk and new wave inspired hook-laden tracks.
Taken from their forthcoming debut EP Plus (out November 24th), we’re delighted to premiere the band’s debut single Sold Your Soul. With the occasional harmony, sing-along backing vocals, and memorable chorus, we must warn you: this single is catchy. When asked about the name change, frontman Max Kendall told AMBY,
“We kind of developed and played with a lot of different sounds as The Vibe… We feel we’ve honed it in a bit with this new release.”
In addition to the EP’s release, Deco support Coasts on December 3rd at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham and have their EP Launch Party on December 6th at Victoria Inn in Derby. Deco is Max Kendall (lead vocals, guitar, synth), Ben Dexter (lead guitar, backing vocals), Matt Benstead (bass), and Scott Stone (drums, backing vocals). Stream Sold Your Soul below:
