Hello AMBY readers!

We are Brighton based 4 piece Of Empires, we’re just about to release our debut EP ‘Stranger Sensations’ on the 30th September.

Our sound is best described as ‘rock ‘n’ roll’, a broad term today, but lets just say we like to keep our music a bit more retro! To stay in keeping with the bands sound, we decided to record our new EP at ‘The Toy Rooms’ in Brighton a vintage recording studio whose former clients include the legendary Nick Cave. The EP was laid down with some very capable hands: engineered by Ben Thackeray (Oasis, Jamie Cullum) and mixed by Jon Gray (The Kooks, The Subways, Editors).

Living by the coast, we spend a lot of time on Brighton beach armed with a BBQ, some beers and a guitar, our own little pebbled Venice Beach for inspiration, we think it translates through our music, and people say we have a slight surf rock vibe going in our songs. We like any kind of reaction we can get from our music, we want the lyrics to make you think, with the beats to make you dance! We listen to a lot of 60s music, bands like The Doors and The Rolling Stones, but plenty of the modern stuff too like The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Black Keys. We try to mash all our influences together to create something cool, we have a way of testing if a song’s great, we play it on the car stereo very loud, driving down the coast with the top down and just let the good times roll!

Since we cut the EP, we’ve been receiving a lot of national airplay of our song ‘Gimme What I Need’ across the BBC Introducing network, and we are currently booking up shows for a tour in support of our first effort. To keep up to date with what we’re doing and to download the EP, visit our website; http://ofempires.co.uk. Our debut EP ‘Stranger Sensations’  will be available for FREE on 30th September.

See you soon!

Matt, Jack, George, Liam.
