A Music Blog, Yea? is delighted to premiere Coastal Cities‘ new song Who Else But The Man Above. Acting as the title track taken from their forthcoming EP, the Buckinghamshire fivesome deliver their new-wave influenced, blissful, melancholy-pop trademarks in their final release as a band.
Yes, you read that correctly — this forthcoming EP is Coastal Cities’ last release together. Although we’re sad to deliver the news, this is a bitter-sweet announcement and it’s an exciting time for the group; more music will be coming soon from the band members as separate projects are to follow after the EP’s release.
Vocalist/guitarist Declan Cullen tells A Music Blog, Yea? his thoughts on the EP:
“There has been a year’s worth of hard work and heartbreak put in to these songs. The band has been through many highs and lows this is the product of those times. In our opinion, it’s the closest representation of our band we could give, and we’re incredibly proud of it.”
Coastal Cities are near and dear to our hearts and we’ve always admired their clever knack for pairing somber lyrics against joyous and uplifting melodies. It’s been a pleasure following them on their voyage and we wish them all the best with their new projects.
Although this may be “the end” of Coastal Cities, it’s the beginning of some great new music. With the talent shown by each individual throughout their time as a band, we’re sure these boys have positive futures in the industry ahead of them, no matter the name they record under.
