We are April Towers, an electronic duo from Nottingham, England – home to Robin Hood, Nottingham Castle, and the only Hooters in the United Kingdom.
We both (Alex and Charlie) met at school during a Biology lesson – after initially hating each other for around 7 months, including a rumour Charlie started saying that I had a knife on me in class following a row over a girl, we started to get on and soon realised that we shared the same musical tastes.
Six years on, after being involved in an alt rock project together, we turned our attention to electronic music, inspired by bands such as LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, and Cut Copy as well as incredible producers such as Todd Terje and Jon Hopkins. We formed April Towers and threw a demo out online – things took off from there.
Our debut single “Arcadia” was released on October 27th, and received its first airplay on Radio 1 from Huw Stephens and Fearne Cotton. You can check out the video on our website – www.apriltowers.com.
We have plans to hit the road in the UK this Autumn, and as for beyond then, maybe you guys could put us up in Canada some time…?
