Swedish musicologist Magnus Reimer has created a genre that we’re not all too familiar with: acoustic-electro. With influences of electronic bands like Depeche Mode and indie acts like Sufjan Stevens, this “musician, thinker, and chord-obsessed megalomaniac” has created a truly rare yet approachable sound.
Taken from his forthcoming album Tidal Lock, we’re delighted to premiere his newest track It Turns Out. When it comes to his thoughts on the release, Reimer states;
“I wanted to write a song which felt honest and direct, but from improvisations came a song which startled me with its simple beauty and complex layers of emotion. I surprised myself and I hope it will surprise others.”
Mixing the melodic vocals of a Snow Patrol release with the electronic downbeat and eeriness of a John Foxx (Ultravox) track, you can truly understand where the genre acoustic-electro stems. Stream It Turns Out below:
