London is home to great folk music talents and Bear’s Den happens to be one of them. The story of the band is a real hard-work-feel-good experience. They’ve traveled around the UK in their van, eventually getting noticed by some legendary folk artists like Mumford & Sons and Of Monsters and Men.
Their debut album Islands, was released a couple of weeks ago and it has all the right rhythms and beats. Featured in The New York Times’ Press Play section, this band is definitely going to make you feel things that would be otherwise suppressed beyond the confines of your day-to-day routine. Above the Clouds of Pompeii was their second single off the album (Elysium being first) and it is incredibly deep. The song itself deals with the death of a mother and coming to terms with that loss at an older stage in life. Some other awesome songs off the album would be Elysium, Magdalene, and Agape. Listen to the entire album. If you like one song, you’re sure to like them all!
They’ll be playing at the Mod Club on November 21st. So if you want to surprise your SO with a walk down Little Italy and some nice, relaxing music on a Friday night, these guys are the band for you. Don’t forget to get Churros!
