My name is Baby Taylor, and I’m a solo singer-songwriter from Scotland. I have just released my album ‘A Moment of Sympathy for all my Enemies’ which I finished writing when I was 17.
Five years later, and I’m touring the UK to promote its release, which I never thought I’d do. I’m mainly influenced by the likes of William Fitzsimmons, David Gray, Alanis Morissette, and Coldplay, who I listened to non-stop while writing ‘A Moment of Sympathy…’
I think people expect me to be really intense, however I am pretty light hearted unless I’m hangry. I have a terrible habit of picking my hair, and it is true: Scottish people do say ‘wee’ and ‘aye’ a lot, but I haven’t tried a deep fried mars bar, and I don’t plan to.
I’m quite a quiet performer. Because I talk for around 99.9% of the day, people assume I’m upset before a performance, due to the fact I’m completely shut up. I wouldn’t believe an artist when they’d say that their act is ‘based on a character’. But, I take it back – I do think Baby Taylor is a character for me. She is much better put together than I am, and very hard to read; I don’t know if I’d like her if we met at a party.
This is my single, ‘Four Hearts’ below.
I can’t wait to start gigging else where, and when I do, Canada will definitely be at the top of my list.
