You’ve GOT to Hear This: Islove – “Spirals”

East Coast native Islove has released his long-awaited first single through Sony ATV records on November 1st, 2014. He came to Toronto in 2008 and started playing tiny club shows at historic spaces such as The Big Bop, Bread & Circus and Lily. I met him at a Kitchen Party in Kensington market and that’s where the magic began. He captured my heart with his undeniable voice and raw honest lyrics. Islove lives his life AS the embodiment of love.

Our friendship provoked me to bring tambourines to his shows and harmonize with his lyrics from the crowd. The drum-circle community-building nomadic ambition of someone who can truly say Home is where your Heart dwells is truly what you can expect to hear from this new chapter of his musical career. A few years ago he collaborated with Glenn Morrison on the 2012 ‘Song of the Summer’ Goodbye – which was a little different than what his original followers were used to. The depth and heart of Islove’s sound is in his presence.

Spirals is his first release as a solo artist. It is a sonic dreamscape that takes us back to the freshwater beach days of summer. You may recognize where it was filmed if you are a beach dweller like myself. The video is a feast for the senses. Painting on the beach with tall grass trails and a pebbly shore, sand in your toes and long flowing hair. The lyrics are a reflection of life lived and what is to come, and how one can see themselves completely in any stage of life.
