After dropping their latest EP release Anything I Do Is All Right, London trio Happyness (Ash Cooper, Benji Compston, and Jonny Allan) took the time to speak with A Music Blog, Yea? about filming at a karesansui, being wary of pranks, and dream concerts. Here’s what they had to say:
AMBY: Hey Happyness, welcome to our site! What’s the band been up to lately?
Happyness: Hi. Thank you. Mostly growing our hair.
AMBY: How would you describe each member of Happyness in one word?
Happyness: Ash: Jewish, Benji: Protestant, Jonny: Catholic
AMBY: You recently dropped your first-ever music video for Anything I Do Is All Right. What was the best moment you had while indulging in the green-screen creational madness of the video?
Happyness: We weren’t actually at a green screen – the shoot was held at a karesansui and then we put the green screen on in post-production.
AMBY: It’s been said that the video leans heavily on your “prankster side”. What’s your favourite prank you’ve ever pulled on someone?
Happyness: Actually we’re generally wary of pranks (they just cause unnecessary worry and anxiety).
AMBY: The track is taken from your new EP Anything I Do Is All Right. What’s the inspiration behind the EP’s title?
Happyness: It’s from a Happyness song.
AMBY: Describe your dream gig and who would be on the bill with you.
Happyness: Dusty Springfield , Sparklehorse, Talk Talk, The Velvet Underground (with Doug Yule), Harry Nilsson (playing “The Point!” in full) and Wizzard.
AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Happyness that nobody knows yet?
Happyness: We’re growing a fourth member in a vat. It’s gonna be a while.
Thank you Happyness, for giving us your answers!
