It’s been a while since AMBY caught up with London five piece Jungle Doctors, last featuring them in early 2014 on the release of “Dry” from their last “Open Up” EP. But things have been far from quiet for the band, who played The Great Escape and Bissfields Festivals over the summer as well as gigs at the likes of Camden’s Barfly and The Garage.
“Dry” went on to register nearly 90,000 SoundCloud plays, far exceeding those of their earlier releases. They followed that up with single “The Sea and The Rain” which smashed through the 100,000 play mark and was a leading track on Indie Rock SoundCloud trends for weeks. And then just when things might have been slowing up they belatedly released “Late” the last track from their “Open Up” EP which rapidly hit over the 150,000 play mark.
Jungle Doctors begin 2015 brightly with a video release for their latest single “Can You See It”, exclusively premiered here at AMBY. The video doesn’t feature the band itself but has been spliced together by Angus and Will from the band from various out of copyright clips from Sci Fi films. And the Sci Fi element in keeping with the band’s slightly more electronic direction on the track, which gives it an authentic 80s feel that evokes Simple Minds’ “Waterfront” and the likes of Visage and Tears for Fears whilst still sounding fresh and current.
