Corput, from the Netherlands, was 11 years old when he gained inspiration to start Dj’ing from a documentary on Dutch MTV, by 13 he was signed to his first record label, then by just 14 years old he was Dj’ing at clubs across the Netherlands. Of course with his parents having to chauffeur him. Hardwell was enrolled in a music orientated school and rock academy, but after just 3 months his teachers advised him to quit and pursue a career in music immediately. So it’s fair to say his potential to achieve greatness was achieved at an age that most would find unbelievable.
First recognition came after his bootleg remix of Robin S’s – Show Me Love and Steve Angello & Laidback Luke’s instrumental track Be. From then on Hardwell’s achievements and rise to worldwide recognition, fame and festival immortality have been groundbreaking. In 2010 he founded his own label Revealed Recordings and in 2011 created the podcast Hardwell On Air, which is on iTunes’s top 10 in several countries. In 2012, along with fellow DJ’s Alesso, Nicky Romero and R3hab, he was named an EDM artist to watch by MTV. As well as breaking Ultra Music Festival in Miami’s record for the most live stream broadcast views with over 80,000, Hardwell’s set is the most watched live DJ set as of February 2014 with over 22 million views, beating his very own record from Tomorrowland in 2012. Then embarking on his world tour I Am Hardwell, and achieving number 1 DJ on DJ Magazines top 100 all before his debut studio album; but the wait will finally be over as of January the 23rd 2015 when United We Are will finally grace the world with it’s sure to be dancefloor destroyers, festival anthems and monster drops.
After numerous chart smashers such as ‘Everybody Is In The Place’ and ‘Dare You’, Corput is not slowing down anytime soon so it seems. The first single ‘Acardia’ is a blend of progressive and techno, with ballistic heavy bass, euphoric synths joined with towering vocals from Luciana and fellow Dutch newcomer Joey Dale slotting in to the puzzle, this smash ripped apart summer festival sets. Known for nurturing new up and coming talents, Hardwell enlisted the help from British vocalist Chris Jones on ‘Young Again’ and straight away he commands attention. A catchy melody with thumping keys underneath, questioning (“will we ever feel young again?”) the track switches from vocal-driven dominance to soaring club beats and prevailing drops. Another guaranteed club smash. Joining forces with legendary hip-hop extraordinaire Fatman Scoop and familiar duo W&W, the third single release was a greatness that could not have been rushed. Premiered in front of thousands at Tomorrowland back in 2013 creating buzz across the scene, finally it is now ready to see the light. ‘Don’t Stop The Madness’ was unleashed at a sold out Revealed label night and has now enticed crowds from Hardwell’s home The Netherlands, all the way to New York and back again. Overspilling with energy, this is sure to be a massive fan favorite on United We Are.
A DJ that was set up and expected to achieve greatness when he was only 13, Hardwell has certainly more than exceeded those predictions. Being the youngest person to ever be named the worlds number 1 DJ, twice, United We Are is a debut studio album no one wants to miss out on, and if you’re hitting the clubs at anytime in the next few months you’re guaranteed to not have a choice in the matter.
