You’ve GOT to Hear This: Modest Mouse – “The Best Room”

Modest Mouse
Modest Mouse have shared “The Best Room”, the third single off their forthcoming release, Strangers to Ourselves. This follows their previously shared tracks “Lampshades on Fire” and “Coyotes”.

The penultimate track showcases a nice blend of Modest Mouse eras and characteristic sounds. The passionate Isaac Brock lets his concerns be known about the dismal shape of Western civilization, “The lessons unlearned, oh this meeting it’s adjourned! These western concerns, ’Hold my place in line while I take your turn.’” His usual jerky vocals are coupled with a lax, dance rhythm and a rock infused chorus plagued by political confessions.

With this fresh single Modest Mouse release new details, both good and bad, about their sixth album. Initially planned for release on March 3rd, they have pushed back Strangers to Ourselves by two weeks to March 17th. Coincidently the indie rockers perform on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” the day of the release. They have also made available the track list of Strangers to Ourselves – see below.
