5 Songs You’ll Love This Valentine’s Day

Mixtape
I hope you guys have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, and remember, today isn’t just a day for significant others. Go treat yourself or spend it with friends and family. If you’re not a fan, it can just be another day! But filled with love!

Robbers by the 1975

I love this song so much because not only does it tell a story, but it tells a realistic story. Now, if you’ve seen the video, you might be wondering how robbing a convenience store is “realistic”, but if you look at the words, it describes a relationship in which they know they probably shouldn’t be together, but yet they keep trying, because they really love each other.

Suego Faults by Wolf Gang

This song has a very mystical and yet mysterious element, which is why I love this song, but also it has this “Let’s escape the World” mentality that I think most couples have. He’s asking her to go this “mystical” world that he’s created in his head, just to get away to place that is entirely their own, and there’s just something beautiful about that.

Your Body Is A Wonderland by John Mayer

You can’t talk about Valentine’s Day and not talk about this song. John Mayer has such a silky smooth persuasiveness that you know exactly what he’s talking about in this song, but yet it’s offensive or invasive as many sex songs are. I think it’s sweet. It makes me think of warm sunshine and bed sheets, which is reminiscent of the warm, soft feeling love gives you.

Poet by Bastille

Inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18, this song is about immortalizing the one you love in words. And not just words, poetry. Words are such a powerful thing, that you can make someone “live forever” just in the words you describe them in. And that’s such a beautiful way to hold someone in your heart, which is why I love this song so incredibly much.

Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran

I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about this song. Ed Sheeran is known for his beautifully written, heartfelt songs to the gentle strum of his guitar, but he really outdid himself on this one. I honestly haven’t been able to stop listening to this song ever since I first heard because it’s just so lovely. Good job, Ed. You have done well.

Bonus Throwback: Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer

This song brings a smile to my face every time I hear it so I feel I have to include it. It just sounds like warm summertime and young love and stolen kisses and of all the love I hope to have someday. It creates that warm, fuzzy feeling that summertime romance brings.
