Soon to release their debut album this summer, London-based psychedelic-pop foursome F.U.R.S recently took the time to chat with A Music Blog, Yea? to discuss their all-time favourite pop artist, generator parties, and three day weekends. Enjoy the interview below!
AMBY: Hello F.U.R.S, welcome to AMBY. Please introduce yourselves to our readers.
F.U.R.S: Hi AMBY, FURS are Liam, Danielle, Olly, and Amina.
AMBY: You dropped your latest track An Eye On The Vicious in September. What’s the story behind the single?
F.U.R.S: The latest single ‘An Eye On The Vicious’ is really about a lot of not so good things that go on around us on a daily basis but we shouldn’t let it get the better of us. It’s about seeing the positive side in tough situations. It’s meant to be uplifting. We hope that comes across in the song.
AMBY: The song is taken from a forthcoming debut album! When can fans expect to hear it, and is there a working title for the record yet?
F.U.R.S: Yeah our debut is planned for just before the summer next year. We have a couple more singles coming out before that. There is an album title but we’ll keep that a secret until all the details have been finalized. :-)
AMBY: I read that a heavy influence of your is psychedelic pop. Who’s one of your all-time favourite pop artists?
F.U.R.S: We’re influenced by psychedelic music as well as pop music. To be perfectly honest we’re influenced by all sorts of music. There really aren’t any boundaries on what we will listen to. We’ll give everything a try…doesn’t mean we end up liking it all. One of our favorite pop artists of all time has to be Lou Reed. Fantastic song writer.
AMBY: Where would your dream concert take place and who would be in the line-up?
F.U.R.S: I think our dream concert would be out in the California desert at a generator party. From what We’ve heard they can get pretty wild. A beautiful setting for a show. The line up would have to have include Rolling Stones, Funkadelic, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Allah Las, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Father John Misty, Tame Impala, Earl Sweatshirt and FURS. We’d be first on. That’d be a good show!
AMBY: If you could create a law that everyone would have to follow, what would it be?
F.U.R.S: Easy. 3 day weekend. Always good.
AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about F.U.R.S that nobody knows yet?
F.U.R.S: Not many people know that we actually tried two other vocalists before Danielle came into the picture. I had a bunch of early songs that me and Olly had recorded (some of which we still play) but I didn’t want to sing. We have recordings with two other female vocalists on. I then asked Danielle (sister) to move to London and form the band. It worked out well.
Thank you F.U.R.S , for giving us your answers!
