It’s an absolute pleasure to find ourselves here as we (Cole and Joseph) anxiously wait for the arrival of this month’s coffee beans whilst debating whether Joseph’s speaking voice sounded too nasal on the last BBC interview they did.
On March 30th we’re releasing our first record The Girl I Left Behind Me as India Electric Company. We spent last year concocting and recording the songs in a Devonshire Barn – and whilst the chickens, geese and horses all put their stamp on the sound, we have also been heavily influenced by Eastern European, Cuban and Irish folk music as well as The XX, Hannah Cohen, and Joanna Newsom.
The release coincides with the Breathe Again tour with Midge Ure as both his support act and his band – so we will be checking to see if we’ve peaked at number 20,472 in the the Album Chart. We’re very excited about the opportunity to bring our folk instruments to a legend’s astonishing back catalogue whilst simultaneously attempting to break the world record for the-most-amount-of-chess-matches-and-games-of-boule-on-a-Midge-Ure-tour.
You’ll find us at a UK festival or two this year as well. We’ll be the ones trying to flog Joseph’s homemade cyder and suggesting our CDs be used as coasters. We’re currently rehearsing the album for our live shows and we’re looking forward to getting out the studio and just seeing some faces again.
With love and frolics,
India Electric Company
