Richie Kotzen, lead vocalist and guitarist of The Winery Dogs, has also had a prolific solo career, though managing to fly under the radar of many music fans. His latest album, Cannibals, is a collection of rock-tinged R&B and funk songs. We’re talking real, old school feeling R&B, not what they’ve been calling R&B for the past 20 odd years. Overall, the album is solid; decent songs, with outstanding performances, particularly those ridiculously awesome guitar solos.
However, one standout track is “I’m All In,” which features a duet with King’s X vocalist/bassist dUg Pinnick. Pinnock is one of my favorite singers ever, so my ears definitely perked up when I heard his voice on this one. Soulful vocals, strong grooves; it all comes together on this tune.
Buy the song, and if you get a chance to see Richie Kotzen live, don’t miss it.
