Gimme Your Answers: An Interview w/ Talisco

In our recent interview, A Music Blog, Yea? spoke with French electro-folk artist Talisco to discuss the music scene in Paris, travelling, and gigantic posters with his face on it. Enjoy!

AMBY: When did you realize you wanted to be a musician?

Talisco: Creating has always been a need. My Spanish grandmother sang a lot. At the age of 11, my mother offer me my first guitar and I composed my first songs around 13. music always been in my life. I don’t remember a click, Talisco is a logical result…

AMBY: Name a few musical and non-musical influences.

Talisco: I love music in all its registers. Beck is one of the most important, he’s free in composition. All of his albums and tracks are different and surprising. Danger Mouse, because the color of his sound is very interesting to me. He’s polyvalent and multifaceted.

AMBY: Where would you be in life if you were not a musician?

Talisco: Something scenic, on top of a mountain or high hill with a view over a city with a beach.

AMBY: How would you describe the French music scene?

Talisco: I listen a lot of music which come from everywhere. I’m not interesting specially in the French music scene. Now days you can’t describe French music cause it’s like a big mix from everywhere.

AMBY: Is there a certain event in your life that has largely impacted your music and/or lyrics?

Talisco: Specially when I travel. For example, the last year when I crossed California by car for « video movie ». It makes me want to tell stories.

AMBY: Tell us about one crazy thing that has happened on tour.

Talisco: Last year in Germany at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, the label said to me « you will have a surprise if you walk in the street ». Of course, the big surprise was here. I was walking in the street with the band and other friends and one of us said « oh god, amazing, look behind you ! ». There were gigantic and incredible poster « talisco » ! The biggest of the city. It was so amazing and I was so proud.. yeah ! I was here !! One of the best magic moments.

AMBY: What’s something about you that nobody knows yet?

Talisco: Sometimes I listen Madonna :)
