With websites like SoundCloud and BandCamp making accessibility to artists’ music a simple task, searching bands by genre has become part of my daily routine. One of my favourite genres to explore is “dream pop”, but it seems that this category is getting to be more samey as each day passes. This is why I was pleased to come across a recent submission from Montreal’s psychedelic pop-rock group Maybelleen.

Comprised of brother Peter and Charles Camiré, these two are creating exciting dream pop with melodious choruses, simple yet genuine lyrics, and dreamy vocal harmonies. Taken from their latest EP release Stereotypes, the video for Rest My Case follows in the same (trippy) vein as the enchanting song as it takes us to a night at a carnival where the duo indulge in fair games, rides, and cotton candy.

Maybelleen will bring the EP to Toronto this summer where fans can catch the brothers at The Cavern on July 22nd, The Velvet Underground on July 24th, and The Horseshoe Tavern on August 25th. Watch the video for Rest My Case on A Music Blog, Yea?, and follow updates from Maybelleen below:
