Midwestern native and singer-songwriter Boh Doran is readying herself for the release of her six track eponymous EP, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to give our readers a sneak peek. Influenced by classic soul and rock writers from the 60s and 70s, Boh Doran features irresistible smoky and sultry vocals with retro indie-pop synth riffs, all laced upon honest, heartfelt lyrics. When asked about the EP, Doran told AMBY,
“I wrote this record upon arriving to LA last year after leaving NYC and a short time on a farm in Iowa. The songs are about growing pains that come from leaving something that’s too comfortable and is not serving you as a person anymore….stunting your soul growth perhaps. And it’s about making new changes that pave the road in the direction you want it to go. It’s no concept album, but it touches on themes within relationships that have seemed to play like broken records throughout my life.”
Produced with Jon Kaplan (Ingrid Michaelson, A Great Big World) and Ethan Mentzer (The Click 5), the EP also features her latest single White Knuckles which broke the Top Ten on Spotify’s US and Global Viral chart.
