Must be the Holy Ghost — the solo project of North Carolina artist Jared Draughon — released his debut record Get Off in April of last year. The album packed a punch with its layered electronic rhythms and dazed guitars. On August 28th, Draughon shares the deluxe re-release of the album which features two bonus tracks entitled All The Wrong Words and Airborne.
Today we’re pleased to premiere All The Wrong Words, a brooding piece of atmospheric alt-electronica. The deluxe edition of Get Off is now available for purchase via iTunes here. Follow updates from MBTHG, dive into our interview, and stream the new single on AMBY below!
AMBY: Hey Must Be The Holy Ghost, welcome to AMBY. Where does our interview find you today?
MBTHG: Hey, I’m hanging at my studio space in North Carolina.
AMBY: You soon celebrate the deluxe re-release of Get Off, congrats! Do you have any plans to celebrate the release?
MBTHG: Thanks! I’m planning to celebrate at some upcoming shows in September starting with Hopscotch Music Festival.
AMBY: The record was released over a year ago. What are your thoughts on the album now that there’s been time to reflect on it?
MBTHG: “Get Off” is still relevant to me now and it continues to surprise me especially live. My only regret was to have left off a couple songs that have now been added to the re-release.
AMBY: We’re excited to share your new single All The Wrong Words with the world today! Tell our readers a bit about the story behind the song.
MBTHG: It was the first song that came together when I started MBTHG in 2012. I let the song idea marinate for a while so lyrically it’s kinda of all over the place, compiled with one liners that I’d written in my notes early on.
AMBY: We love the dark electronica elements of your music. Which other electronic artists that you take influence from would you recommend our readers check out?
MBTHG: Chrome Sparks, Hundred Waters, Mount Kimbie, Burial.
AMBY: If you could have All The Wrong Words featured in any television show or film, which would it be?
MBTHG: The next Mad Max movie!
AMBY: Lastly, what’s something about Must Be The Holy Ghost that nobody knows yet?
MBTHG: I’m running for President.
