Whenever AMBY runs a video premiere, I always listen to the song before watching the video. As I listened to Back At The Boneyard by Stonetrotter, I envisioned a smokey room with a couple closely embracing one another while dancing. Honestly, I’ve never been so bang on before with my guess.
Taken from their forthcoming self-titled record, we’re delighted to premiere the Barrie rock and soul fivesome’s new video for Back At The Boneyard — a hazy, fifties-nuanced release with some beautifully lush harmonies. Following the same dreamy vein of the song, the video is absolutely fitting as we watch the band serenade a couple while they slowdance into the evening. When asked about the song, Stonetrotter vocalist and guitarist Dave Allen shared with AMBY;
“We shot the video for ‘Back At The Boneyard’ in a cottage in Wyebridge, Ontario. It was formerly owned by Franz Johnston of the Group of Seven and he supposedly crafted the stained glass windows seen in the video. The song is about revisiting the boneyard, the skeleton room – the place where you’re confronted by old habits, shortcomings and feelings. A little meditation on being aware of old bones and conscious of the process of growing out of them, or, letting the earth do what it does best, decompose them.”
