Hey, we’re Tors! The band started off in Devon, where myself (Matt) and my brother Theo were brought up. When I started to write music for E4’s Skin’s, Theo joined the writing team. And then when Theo moved to London to study scriptwriting so I followed suit. We’re very lucky to be the grandsons of legendary ‘Guitar Wizard’ Bert Weedon and so we grew up in the company of Brian May, George Harrison, and the likes. We started out as songwriters and won cuts across the world (USA, Sweden, Japan, Italy etc.). But after a stint in Nashville we were inspired by the legacy of the city and some words of wisdom from ground breaking producer Don Was tempted us to form a band.
Like The Kooks, Train, and Imagine Dragons ‘Tors’ came together after becoming friends via music school. A vocal harmony five piece, we aim to blend soaring vocals, hooky melodies and story driven lyrics. Our musicianship and Americana meets indie-rock style landed us a headline BBC Introducing set as our second ever gig which was amazing and we were included on TV’S BBC Spotlight News. Having recorded one EP already with the amazing producer Paul Steel (and our next is on the way) things are moving fast and the support so far has been remarkable. We’ve been lucky enough to receive backing from BBC Introducing as well as sponsorships by Marshall Amps and Yamaha!
