There’s been a real buzz over the last month around the debut single “Ghost Town” from Peterborough based indie four piece Airways. Picked up by Charlie Ashcroft at Amazing Radio, the track surged to the top of the poll on his Audition show to find a regular place on the station’s playlist, with John Kennedy picking up the track for Radio X, together with plays across the BBC Introducing strand. It has already geared up 40,000 online streams.
With indie pop-rock sensibilities, the upbeat track feels a world away in tone from the song of the same name by The Specials, but it shares that Ghost Town’s reflection of societal change – this time of a world immersed in technology. The track was produced by Dom Craik of Nothing But Thieves, with whom the band have also toured.
Airways are made up of Jake Daniels on vocals and guitar, Jamie Reynolds on bass, Alex Ruggiero on guitar and Brian Moroney on drums. With 2016 already off to a promising start that is set to continue with a series of live dates in support of Pixel Fix in March and no doubt a health festival presence over the summer months.
