Vera Lones are a four piece grunge rock act from Colchester in Essex. Formed back in 2009 they hit the studio to produce their first 3 track EP “A London Particular” in 2014, following it up with a recent five track EP “Antics”.
Usually rocking out in a major way, “Take Fire” from the EP sees the band in more mellow frame, in some way evocative of Blur’s “This Is A Low”. With a simple melody and endearing vocal, the track plays on your emotions and draws you in. It’s not a song you’d ever skip on your iPod, but rather one you’d take time out to pause, reflect, and take in.
The rest of the EP is made up of “Bit Confused, I Reckon”, “Settle For Less”, “Shake My Hand”, and “Blind”. For those looking to dig deeper it’s well worth checking out their cover of Eagle of Death Metal’s “I Love You All The Time” here.
Vera Lones are Jake Hammarton on Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Jon Young on Lead guitar and backing vocals, Harry Mitchell on Bass guitar and backing vocals and Matt Carman on Drums.
